Meet Me Online

Do you Facebook? Social networking has exploded and it's worth considering how to integrate sites like Facebook and LinkedIn into your marketing strategies.

Most of my corporate clients are still scratching their heads and trying to figure out how best to leverage this more personal way of marketing their businesses. But many female entrepreneurs I know have told me they've had success with these platforms, because it's really about networking. As a result, they've found that through friends of online-friends of online-friends they've made some great connections at the right time to get a new client engagement, sell products, etc.

So, if you haven't started yet, check it out. Once you set up a Facebook account, join the Jane Out of the Box group and send me a friend's request. And if you have a social networking success story, write it on my FaceBook wall or send me a quick email — we're looking for great success stories of all kinds to share on our blog.

Looking forward to being your "friend"!

Know Your Customer ... or Someone Else Will

Think of how much time and energy it would take to find out exactly how many people in your city or region have a passion for sports and fitness. Or how many of those people are also pet owners, and with household incomes between $50,000 and $200,000 a year.

This kind of information is very valuable, and that's why direct mail websites want you to pay for targeted lists such as the one detailed above.

But, what most people don't realize is that simply obtaining the number of people in a given area who

fit a certain criteria is also extremely valuable, whether you choose to purchase their contact information or not.

In order to sell you a list, direct mail sites have to tell you the number of leads that will be included on that list. This means these sites can act, in essence, as a free online resource for savvy entrepreneurs looking to size their target market.

I had recently gotten out of a bad marriage and found myself a single mom with two kids and no sufficient means to take care of myself. So I launched my first business as a way to supplement my income. It’s been more than 12 years now and ... in the last decade I’ve launched a total of 5 businesses. My most recent venture and the one closest to my heart is MyVeryOwnAdvisor.com, which was created as a way to provide help and trusted expert advice to individuals who need immediate assistance regarding personal and business issues. It's designed to give entrepreneurs and small business owners access to their very own advisor... all without leaving the comforts of their home or office.” Services are provided via live chat, instant message, video conferencing, phone and email.

“... The greatest reward of being a business owner is the satisfaction of knowing that my learning curve and hard knocks in business were not all in vain,” Pam says. “I feel that I am now able to use every lesson I have learned over the years took place so that I could help other aspiring entrepreneurs successfully launch their own ventures.”
